Only electric models and gliders are allowed due to noise restrictions. IC engines are not permitted. Electric models are generally powered by brushless motors and Lipo batteries. We can offer tuition and advice to new members. We are always looking for new flying fields so please contact us if you know of one.
The SSA has some excellent slope soaring sites in the Peak District for wind directions from NW to E. Models range from detailed scale models as shown above to simple trainers. Powered models of any type are not permitted on any of our slope sites.
Alll types of models are flown from simple depron models to detailed scale aircraft. These can be built as electric powered models or even as slope soarers as can be seen in the photo. The models shown in the photo are all made from GWS kits.
